It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Clova May Dobson announce her passing on June 27, 2020.
Mom was predeceased by husband James Dobson; daughter Linda Klein; and sister Ruth Coupland.
Mom leaves to mourn her passing, five children; John, Janice (George), Dave, Jim, and Lori; sister Olive Gage; son-in-law Wally Klein; nine grandchildren; Janine (Cory), Mark (Laura), Dan (Allison), Katrina (Jesse), Christine (Dan), Melissa (Mataeus), Sarah (Logan), Rochelle, and Janelle (Scott); six great-grandchildren, Ava, Owen, Cora, Carter, Audrey, and Annika. Also left to mourn Mom’s passing is Micheline Dobson, whom mom considered as her fourth daughter.
Mom worked hard raising her children in a small home on Chamberlain Avenue in north end Winnipeg. She spent endless hours in the kitchen preparing meals for her tribe which included family favourites such as roast, stew, chili, scalloped potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and homemade cookies and cakes.
Outside of the home Mom worked cleaning offices and preparing meals in the restaurant at Eaton’s in Garden City.
Mom had a deep love of big band, swing and jazz music and her favourite singers included Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, and Sarah Vaughan. Her love and appreciation of music has been passed on to her children, for which they are grateful.
Mom’s love of knitting and needlepoint gave her enjoyment and her finished works will be cherished by her family forever.
Mom spent her last thirteen years as a resident of Sunset Lodge in Victoria, BC. The family wish to thank the staff for their professional care, especially during the final weeks of her life. Their many acts of kindness and sympathy were of great comfort.
A private scattering of cremated remains will take place in Victoria at a later date.
Donations in Clova’s memory may be made to Sunset Lodge, 952 Arm Street, Victoria, BC, V9A 4G7.
“Mothers hold their children’s hands for a while, but their hearts forever!”
We love you Mom and will miss you dearly!
