Obituary of Helga Gertrude MARSHALL

‘Helga Gertrud Marshall (Brenneisen) was born in Berlin, Germany on September 16, 1940.

She was an avid skier, badminton player and swimmer in her youth.

In 1960 at the age of 19, she followed her cousin and emigrated to Montreal, Canada as a typist.

She worked for the Bank of Montreal on Peel Street, where she met her future husband, David J. Marshall.                                    

They had two children, David and Vaughn, and later moved to Toronto.

After her divorce from David, she and the boys moved to Vancouver where she worked for the TD Bank Group until retirement as well as 

for Saga Holidays as a tour representative.   

She enjoyed her senior bus travel adventures, curling on television, Mozart and her grand children.

Helga spent the last several years living in Victoria, battling lung cancer first diagnosed over 10 years earlier.

Helga died in Victoria Hospice located at Royal Jubilee Hospital November 2, 2019 surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her son David and his partner Michael, her son Vaughn, his wife Lisa, grandchildren Landon and Kiyo, & niece Elke Anders of Munich.

 

Sea scattering of her cremated remains will take place this spring.
