Barry Paul Wiesner, born June 11th 1943 to Sophie Paluk and Adolph Wiesner in St. Boniface Manitoba, passed peacefully Wednesday October 3rd at the age of 75. Barry (Bear) grew up playing on the Fraser River as one of the “Marpole Kids” in Vancouver. He first married Pat Leech (Ontario) and became a wonderful father to his amazing children, Kim (wife to Andrew Gowing, New Romney, UK) and Steven (husband to Eileen Tanpiengo, Calabasas CA). He was the proud Grandfather to Connor and Davis Wiesner. Loving brother of Patricia (wife of Stanley Brown, El Dorado Hills, CA). Predeceased by brother Robert (Leland Shafer). Barry is survived, and will be infinitely missed by his love and wife, Vivian McCormick (Victoria BC) and his canine and elemental buddy Sam. He will be dearly missed by friends and colleagues around the world, who knew of his kindness, generosity, and were beguiled by his disarming smile and wit. He was an artful leader in business, a natural athlete, avid golfer, fisherman, political enthusiast, and a charismatic soul, who loved animals, except his troubled and cuss-fuelled relationship with Topaz, the blue-fronted Amazon parrot! Bear will be eternally thrilled that Tiger won again, and that Phil Michelson finished last in the Tour Championship!
Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or your neighbourhood Humane Society.
