Obituary of Dianne BUMP

Dianne Jennifer Mary de Verteuil was born in Point-A-Pierre, Trinidad into an old French family who arrived in 1797 after leaving France to escape the French Revolution.  She spent the first 5 years of her life in Beach Camp in Palo Seco, Trinidad.  In early 1953 her family moved to Anaco, Venezuela as her father was in the oil business, going back to Trinidad often for family visits.  In August of 1965 the family moved to North Vancouver because the political situation in Venezuela was beginning to change for the worse.  She married John Bump in 1968 and in 1972 they moved to Lasqueti Island and lived there until August 1985 when they came to settle in Victoria.  Dianne is known best in Victoria as the owner of Zydeco Gifts on Johnson Street, which she and John started in 1986.

Dianne is predeceased by her son Justin, her brother John, her mother Dorothy and her father Frank.  She leaves behind her son Shane (June) and grandchildren Drinnon and Maddie and her daughter Julia (Curtis).  Dianne always said that her  children were her biggest joy in life and was blessed to have shared her journey is this lifetime with them.

Dianne was diagnosed too late with small cell cancer that spread quite rapidly throughout her body.  It came as quite a surprise to us all as Dianne has always been very healthy and full of energy.  She has left us with no regrets and with all her ducks in a row.  Always full of love and cared for each and every person in her life with complete unconditional love and respect.

She passed away peacefully at home with Shane and Julia embracing this sweet soul.  Her home will live on as a safe place to go for love and laughter.

"A limb has fallen from the family tree, grieve not for me

Remember the best times, the good life I lived with I was strong.

Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you

My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.

Continue traditions, no matter how small"  -Dianne J Bump
