Roberta Joan Reeve passed away on the evening of December 20, 2017. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Lynne Reeve and Catherine Davidson (Gerry), nephews Christopher Cormack and Philip Davidson (Monica), niece Kimberly Cormack and many relatives in other parts of Canada.
Roberta was born in Claresholm, Alberta, to parents Joan Elizabeth Dumka and Samuel Dumka. The family also lived in Kelowna and Greenwood B.C. before settling in Victoria where Roberta attended school and later graduated from Camosun College. Roberta studied Office Administration and held a variety of positions in the hospitality industry.
Roberta was artistic, creative and sensitive. She was curious about spirituality, other religions and practiced transcendental meditation. Her passion was music and she enjoyed playing the flute and piano with her late former husband, George Essihos.
Roberta had a special connection to her niece, Kim Cormack, who helped her through some difficult times. Many thanks to Roberta’s long-time friend, John Newberry and his family for their loving friendship and support over the years. Special thanks to Brenda, the staff and the residents at Burdett House where her home was for the last five years. Also, thank you to VIHA staff who helped her navigate her way.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to the BC Cancer Agency, the BC Schizophrenia Society or to Island Community Mental Health.
Roberta (our Auntie Robbie) will be missed.
